I have a Sony DVP-NS315 which cannot play SVCD's unless it is converted to simple multiplex (details here: http://www.geocities.com/newestmoviesencode/dvdvcd )
My problem is this: I have an SVCD in bin/cue format that i wish to convert. Whats the simplest way to do this? Is there any way to do this without ripping the SVCD then converting, then creating again?

simply download the free program IsoBuster, and use it to extract the mpeg file from the image file. However, I tried that method once. It didn't work for me. Let me know if you get it to work, please.

so far so good, TMPGEnc converted it fine, now I just need Nero to burn it then I'll try it

ok, when I imported into Nero, it complained about not being compliant
part of this was the resolution which is 480x480, its supposed to be normal ratio (4:3 or whatever) but I assumed the DVD player would read it differently (you'll have to excuse me, I'm still pretty new at this)
Anyway, I told Nero to ignore and burn anyway but it said it won't fit on a CD. I read in another post that [S]VCD's are burned in type-2 which can hold up to 800 meg, the movie is only 786 meg.
Any help anyone? -
I guess you are using Nero Express. It forces you to re-encode the Mpeg2 file to Mpeg1 since you compiling a standard VCD. Only, Nero Burning Rom will allow you choose either re-encode or ignore this. Try the over-burn option if the file is too big. good luck!
