  1. Here are the facts:
I am capturing video from a vhs Tape.

I am using Ulead with a DVD Template

after I finish capturing I set to make the mpg file of the preset dvd quality.

So now the mpg is created. I want to encode I go to Tmpeg and when I use the Wizard I choose the file it says it can't open the file or it's not supported.

I go back to ulead and make the mpg vcd quality, then back to tmpeg and to the
    wizard and no problems.

Does anybody know what I can do to make the mpg be supported.

My goal is to retain as much video quality as I can. Is there something I'm over looking like a program or some kind of setting?

    Thank you in advance

I'm pretty sure you need to upgrade your version of Ulead. When I upgraded my version of Ulead the upgrade notes remarked that the DVD template had been changed to eliminate a lot of problems.
An alternative would be to capture to AVI using Ulead and then encode to DVD using TMPGEnc. You'd better quality too.

    Hello.
Was it a free upgrade or did you simply buy another version?
    Thanks,

If you're capturing using DVD template then it's MPEG2. You might need to download the following TMPGenc MPEG2 Plugin to open MPEG2 files on TMPGenc.
