Sometimes mounting the cue/bin files with DAEMON Tools, I get an mpg (rather than a dat)file on the virtual drive. The only way I have found so far to be able to play these files on my computer is to use the Simple Multipexing capability in TMPGenc MPEG Tools.

I own mpeg-vcr and can use the MPEG Systems Stream Convertor on the Tools menu to produce a playable mpg, but the sound breaks up, apparently when the screen is somewhat dark or maybe when there is only minimal change between the video portion of the frames - just guessing.

The problem is that I'm using the evaluation version of TMPGenc which will only provide this multiplexing capability for thirty days. So, rather than buying TMPGenc for just this one function, is there any other program, preferably freeware, that I can use to obtain a playable mpg file?

Also, I'm interested in understanding:

1. why can't I play the mpg directly from the virtual drive?

2. what function does the multiplex conversion perform that makes it playable?

3. What causes the problem with the mpeg-vcr converted file? Is there a resolution?

Sorry if this duplicates a question previously asked but I couldn't find any postings which seemed to apply.

Thanks,

amar
