  1. Eveytime I try to load my K19 (a .d2v file via using DVD2AVI) as 'Video Source' in TMPGEnc, I get a "cannot read/support file' log.. I've gone thru a couple of guides and I must be missing a step somewhere, but can't seem to locate it.. Some help w/b greatly appreciated.

Oh, btw, I'm using the same source vob/vts files I got when I ripped using DVD Decrypter to burn K19 using the below method.. (maybe I'm missing a step b/c I'm getting the two different methods confused).

Originally, I used DVD Decrypter, IFOedit v95 and Nero to burn a copy of K19 onto DVD-R, with NOT so great results.. jittery/jumpy scenes thruout the film, as well film freezing at various intervals.. I've done many searches to fix but am thoroughly confused at this point.. Any help with this w/b appreciated too. Thx!

to open *d2v files with tmpgenc you need the vfapi plugin. New version comes with it , older versions dont.

  6. Well, finally... this is what worked for me.. Just a note: I noticed some other programs that I'm using did not install properly until I installed Win SP3... You may/maynot need to..

    1) Ensure your version of DVD2AVI contains a DVD2AVI.vfp plug-in file. As a precautionary measure, I copied this .vfp file directly into the TMPGEnc folder (don't know if that's necessary tho..)

    2) Ensure that you're using latest version of TMPEGEnc (v.259.47.155)--this version contains a plug-in already (I uninstalled, then downloaded the program just to make sure..)

    3) This is KEY... do NOT close DVD2AVI after creating/saving your .d2v file. While it's open, start up TMPGEnc and import .d2v file. Then you can close DVD2AVI.

This should work.. (??). But now I've gotten past this small hurdle, TMPGEnc is telling me that encoding time is.. 30hrs! wtf?!?!? ReMpeg took approx. 15-18hrs for the same movie (K19).. I thought TMPEGEnc was supposed to faster??? Anyone?? TIA..

  7. I have tried all the suggestions you guys have posted and still no luck damn this sucks....TMPGEnc still says that the d2v files is unsupported

  8. I recently installed something called EazyVCD which seems to interfere with Tmpgenc and it's ability to work with d2v files. Uninstalling EazyVCD returned everything back to normal.
Fortunately I didn't wreck everything on my computer trying to find a solution.

    If applicable just a thought
If you are using DVD2AVI new version 1.77 It has some problems I could not resolve. I don't know what version you are using I had a lot of problems with the last version (1.77). I now use 1.76 always with no problems but when I use 1.77 TMPGEnc will not work with the .d2v file so I went back to the previous version and no more problems. Hope it helps

Just to add another wrench, I just read a post that the exact reverse of what I did to fix my problem fixed their problem. So try a different version than you are using and having the problem with.

NOTE: The DVD2AVI *.d2v file is just the frameserver for the .vobs which need to be in the same folder and directory so they can be served to TMPGEnc!

DVD2AVI (note: you should try this new version first, but some users have had problems with it, so if you have problems opening the .d2v project with TMPGEnc, try version 1.76 from here) SEE ABOVE FOR LINK

  10. Ok think i've got our answer guys i took two copies of DVD2AVI an installed it on my pc. get this even though they were the same version the only thing that sent then apart is that their were modified by two different people. on the one version under help their is an option for a VFAPI plug-in
I tried clicking on it nothing so I went ahead an started making my *.d2v and *.ac3 after it was finished I went on to TMPGEnc but it wouldn't open the *.d2v file I just created via my first copy of DVD2AVI. that’s when I started up the second version and first thing I check for was to see if they had the option under help for the VFAPI plug-in and it did but this time it also had a check to the left that’s when I knew it would work after that an it did pulled up TMPGEnc again open the *.d2v file.

hope i made sense good luck

    P.S. the version that worked 1.76 by LOLI..J Modified by dvd2svcd 1.05

  12. Hey guys, just wondering if I'm correct in this statement. After I use decrypter I run dvd2avi and say open and then the .vob file. Is that correct? And after I save it what file should come out. All I get is a .d2v file but I thought I was supposed to get a sound file also?

Maybe you need to increase the priority setting of the plugin in 'environmental settings'
    That always works for me

  14. maturus,
You might like to check your audio option. It sounds like it has been disabled. Audio/Output Method/ I suspect you'll be wanting a wav output.

  15. Well, I used file mode on decrypter this time and now everything works thus far, I haven't done the maestro step yet. The problem I think lies when I use IFO mode on decrypter. I like that mode because I can take out chapters but when I decrypt I get one vob and 2 m2v files (along with the chapters for maestro and an IFO). And when I use DVD2AVI I get nothing but the Cell ID numbers instead of things like aspect ratio. If I use the m2v's everything continues as planned, but no sound. If it helps I'm doing a DBZ DVD.

  16. well all I did to make a d2v file work in tmpgenc is have tmpgenc installed, then I downloaded dvd2avi, extracted to a folder used dvd2avi then closed it went into tmpgenc and it worked first time. If you still have probs with d2v files, just copy the DVD2AVI.vfp from the dvd2avi folder to the tmpgenc main dir where the tmpgenc.exe file is and it should work.

  19. 1) Go to Options | Environmental settings | VFAPI plug-in
    2) UNCHECK DirectShow Multimedia File Reader

That should fix it. This is an old/known 'bug' in TMPGenc. Of couse as others said make sure that the VFAPI codec is installed and added to your register. The newest ver of TMPGenc comes with it but I'm fairly certain you still need to run the bat file to add/edit your registry.

Actually, I mentioned this elsewhere, but that guide fails for me on the first part where it rips with DVD decryptor. The rip has some repeating video. I found out it was caused by some hidden features. My solution was to go into the settings and choose to rip only 1 angle.
