converting problems

ok in tmpeg when i convert only certin movies it works for 35% of movie then just shuts down ,
i also tried using avitovcd that worked to convert the file but it is upside down , what did i do wrong in avitovcd and in tmpeg i have raised the direct show to have same results just stops encoding

You said only "certain " movies do this...not all?
Have you succesfully converted AVI to MPEG?...if so >

If its AVI ,Try running the movie through Virtualdub to clean it up :

Then if that does'nt work ,you can run it through DivFix to check for errors:

If you find errors ,do a more in depth test using this method:

You could also make sure you have the FFDSHOW (Direct Show filter):

Download and install the Nimo Codecs if you haven't done so already. This should help out.
