  1. Hi
Just downloaded a movie, run it through v-dub/tmpg and made a mpeg file which is ok, but looked at it and there is words added every so often across the bottom. Is there anyway to remove this from the movie through tmpg or any other program?

    many thanks kb

I use a filter called Nologo which is used in Virtualdub. Do a google search to get it. It removes those annoying logo marks which are put into the corner throughout some movies. It could be used for text across the bottom of certain movie parts. First cut the AVI up into the parts that contain the text then apply the filter.

  3. Hi
the problem with this movie is that the wording is set at random through the movie. If I run this through v- dub will this find the frames before i add the filter as v-dub is not a programe I use much only to extract audio I do most of what is needed in tmpg and the file is in mpg.

V-dub is for AVI's and will not handle Mpeg. You would have to find the frames manually and cut the AVI up, apply the filter to the affected frames and then reassemble the avi if you were to go that route.

  5. hi 8)

I've only got the mpeg version, after converting I deleted the avi. So has anybody got any more ideas of any tool available to take away the words at the bottom of the screen. Is it possible to find out what layer the wording was put on as there is some sort of layer extact in tmpg I think. as doing it the way suggested could take quite a while, if nobody has any other method, I'll try the way zippyP has suggested.

  6. Hi

Tried the plug-in for v/dub no logo and another plug-in run the movie through but this has not removed the word from the bottom. Looking at the words they seemed to have been added on another layer as there is a blurred margin around the banner of words. I keep trying to remove these but still they remain.

Has anybody got any more ideas I can try?

    Check here: http://www.republika.pl/vander74/virtualdub/ladocs301/logoaway.html

for how to use the logoaway filter. (Sorry, I think I called it nologo before. You can find it by doing a google search.)

    Then here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/legacy/subremoval/type3.htm

for using it to remove subtitles.

Also, check the guides at this site for how to use Virtualdub. Hope that helps. It doesn't actually strip the words out, just makes that area of the video kinda blurry, which I find less distracting.
Maybe someone could create a guide on the subject?!

Open the .MPEG up in VirtualDub, load any filter (brightness/contrast) and choose clipping. It you don't mind cutting off the bottom of the movie, you can use this option. You'll probably wan't to cut some of the sides off also so you don't freak out the frame shape. Then add the resizing filter to resize the movie back to an acceptable size. With the words moving across the bottom of the screen, there is no way of removing them without cutting them off.
