  1. Can anyone tell me the exact setting to choose to achieve the same letterbox screen as the dvd on svcd. My source showed as 4:3 and after doing a test encode with picking 4:3 525 line /full screen (keep aspect ratio) as I have read, the resulting mpeg was letterboxed, but shrunken down like it was a few inches shorter than it should be. I have seen mentioned to pick fit to frame but in my versions of the encoder, I don't have that option. Any ideas?

  2. Well, this really depends on the source but you can test out the "Arrange Method" before encoding.

Load up your Video Source, set your Template and then go to "Settings". Click on the "Advanced" Tab and go into "Clip frame". Now we don't intend to really "clip" anything but there is a GUI for the "Arrange Method" there that can help you determine what to use.

Once in the "Clip frame" dialog click on the "Arrange Setting" button. From here you can position the video to a good scene for testing and then play around with the "Arrange Method" until you get what you were looking for. If the video is "widescreen" and you have already clipped off the black bars (if any), you will probably find that either:

    Center (keep aspect ratio)

    or

    Full Screen (keep aspect ratio)

    works best (usually the later).

Give it a try and decide for yourself. After setting the "Arrange Method" if when you close out of that dialog that the "Clip frame" option is selected but you didn't set any "clipping" you should be okay (as long as you didn't set a "clip region) but I would uncheck that just in case. You will notice that your "Arrange Method" has been set as you selected in the "Clip frame" dialog.

That has always worked good for me.

    Good Luck!
