Hi,
I have a HI-8 camcorder, almost 3 hours recording of my daughters infancy days.
I need to capture this on my PC to cut to a VCD later on.
I have a Belkin IEEE Firewire Card that I use in conjunction with my DV Camcorder.
However is there a converter or hardware device to capture from a HI-8 camcorder that does not feature a DV In/Out Port, but has a standard Video Jack you can use to connect to a VCR or TV.
I had tried the same via a TV Tuner card, but the reception and the quality is louzy as compared to the DV Quality. The main problem is the time it takes and is very unreliable....
If anybody can provide me information with regards to some kind of convertor that will enable me to capture via the Firewire Card, I'd be very gratefull.
Thanks and regards,
Yezdi

You are looking for the Canopus ADVC-50 or ADVC-100. They are made to do exactly what you want. Read about them in the Capture Cards section of this website.
