I am trying to backup Friends Season 1 Disc 1 (NTSC) and when previewing the movie on my computer, I see lines going through the video.
I tried it by just ripping the movie (no reencoding), reencoding the movie with DVD2DVDR, and also reencoding with a manual process (CCE). They all produce the same results
So I start looking around and found out that it may be due to interlacing and that I may need to deinterlace the movie. It also said that if you are going to watch the DVD on your TV that you should not have to worry about it because it will be fine on my TV.
So last night I went ahead and burned the DVD and played it on my TV. The lines were still there.. kinda. I have different modes on my DVD player for Progressive Scan. Auto, Smart, Video1, Video2 and Film. I usually keep my DVD player in Auto, in this case I had to manually flick through the modes and found that Video1 made it look ok (the other modes still had the lines).
Problem is, I would rather fix this at the source than having to change my DVD settings everytime I want to watch this particular DVD.
So.. does this sound like a interlacing issue? If so, what can I do to the video before I author my DVD to take care of it? What would I do to deinterlace the movie?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
