  1. Is there a way to make power DVD Region free? I have a region 2 DVD I need to rip to my drive, whats the best way?

  2. it depends what region your dvdrom is set to.

you can change your dvdrom region in the properties of that drive, but be carefull cause you are only allowed to change it 4 or 5 times then it will stick to the last one you did.

I use DVD Region Killer as software region-free tool and DVD Idle Pro as hardware region-free tool, check :

Wont Smartripper rip the DVD no matter what Region it is in? Or does the Region of your DVD Drive have to match? Never tried a different region DVD before

Hey KaoS, let me guess - you don't live in Europe eej?
Almost all the movies (Region2) here come out half a year later than in the states...(Region1)

  7. If u are ripping, why not just try. U waste peoples time answering stuff like this. Sometimes it is better to just try something and make yourself smarter.

I sure hope you were not talking to me GandyMan. First off, I am not the one that started the topic (so what made you assume that I have a Region 2 DVD to try?) .. second, if I had a Region 2 DVD then I would have tried it. I don't, but sometimes people like to learn things for informational purposes. (my purpose with my question.. to learn something)

If you were not talking to me, quotes are a good thing sometimes

  9. quotes are for when u have to defend your self. If you are not the one that post this topic then go find something to do with your time. The perpose of this was suppost to be to answer the topic not Bash on u. So if u are not the one that asked then do not worry. I have the ability to look at the top and see who started this Topic. What would even make u think it was meant for u. If u were to read u would see it could not have been meant for u because it was meant for the GUY that started it saying he had everything but wanted to know before ever trying. I would have expected someone to tell the guy if he was going to rip then yes he might have to Athenticate the DVD so it could Rip. So in the future lets try and keep it to the topic. Make people smarter not dumber

Yes, but at least Region 2 movies are in a higher resolution format 720x576 than Region 1 at 720x480, and clear PAL rather than dodgey NTSC. I would do without a film before I would pay for an inferior NTSC disc!

LOL.. I have never had the option of using one over the other but I figured it would be good information to know. (always more crap to learn huh?)

The guy never said he did not try, his only question was if he could make it region free.

Man, take your negativity somewhere else.. it is not needed here, really.. its not

  13. GandyMan, you see ? You can start it like this when you address your started sentences. Then everybody would be clear who do you .

Now. I would ask without trying too (maybe). The reason would be that I will be scared of locking up my drive sine I might not understand how all that works. If I would understand everythink I would not be here looking for answers.
