  1. hey, i burned a svcd and tried playing it in wmp (with mpeg2 codecs, etc) and powerdvd. in wmp, it doesn't recognize the file and therefore does not play. in powerdvd, i can see the movie, but there is no sound. i have ac3 stuff installed, but i doubt that is "interfering." any other ideas?

SVCD does not support ac3 audio,no player will play ac3 sound from an SVCD.

  3. that's not really my point. i don't think the ac3 sound it the problem. i mentioned the ac3 stuff to let you know that i have those codecs installed. anyhow, the sound works with windvd, but not powerdvd. any other thoughts?

if ac3 isn't the problem, why did you bring it up?

  5. because i don't know what the problem is, and i was just trying to give you some context about my problem (an earlier poster had problems with divx/xvid sound, which turned out to be an ac3 problem, so i am clarifying that this isn't the problem).
