  3. the menu nero produces is not the best, do it with Ulead VideoStudio 6. I could do it with my VCD but my DVD Player got no number-area ( i'm german and don't know whats a "Zifferntastenfeld" in english is )on the remote
The ones from Ulead are much better and nicer!!!

VCD and SVCD chapters and menus are not chapters and menus like DVDs have - no arrow keys and hilighting, and you use the numeric keypad for everything. The entrypoints used for chaptering work a bit differently, too.

  6. Yes Ulead DVD Moviefactory will make great VCDs with menu but they are not true DVD menus as the two formats use different navigation buttons - the VCDs will use the number buttons (1-9).

VCDeasy is a great program also although you have a bigger learning curve but it is more powerful.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  7. VCDs and SVCDs definitely support menus! As stated before, VCD and DVD menus are different so they don't support the same things.

For an idea of what VCDs and SVCDs support, have a look at: http://www.michaeltam.com

VCDEasy ( http://www.vcdeasy.org ) may not be the simplest program to use, but it is much more powerful than most of the commercial alternatives. Furthermore, it is free. Even more powerful than VCDEasy is manual authoring of the VCD with a text editor. This isn't for the faint-hearted but is very rewarding in what you can do.

For example, the Official VCDHelp.com PAL/NTSC Demo Video-CD was authored with the VCDImager system (i.e., the backend of VCDEasy) by manual authoring of the XML descripter file.
