Normally I don't have any problems with framserving from virtual dub to tmpenc, but when I tried to frameserve die another day (dvdscreener from sharereactor) I got an error message: tmpgenc said the file wasn't supported or unknow.
specs die another day:
xvid
23.976 fps
608x256

first you need to cut a little piece from the movie (from the end) with virtualdub (use directstreamcopy for audio and video), now you will be able to frameserve the shorter avi (don't forget to convert the ac3 sound)

WHAT do you mean, is it because the file til too big for tmpgenc and helps so it's not showing this message "tmpgenc said the file wasn't supported or unknown" and what about the last part you cut away, og how must dit you cut a off
Or what is the trick ?? -
i just finished burning my VCD of this movie. you may have to have Virtualdub version 1.4.9 to frameserve Xvid movies. they have it at http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net when you burn you (S)VCD it willl look awesome

I can't explain why it worked, it just did. (I made a sample to work with it and suddenly tmpeng reconised the file)
You need to cut the xvid file (about 1 or 2 sec of the ending , when the show the cast, director,...)
->open videofile in vdub
->directstreamcopy for audio and video
->save as avi (I will name this dieshort.avi, so can follow my guide)
Now you have to convert this new avi (which is shorter) to svcd
->open dieshort.avi in vdub
->directstream for audio
->save as wav (name it dieshort.ac3.wav)
->go to dir dieshort.ac3.wav and change the name into
dieshort.ac3 (windows will tell something like: this file will not be usable if you change extension)
->convert dieshort.ac3 to a wave file (with ac3tool = best)
-> this will be dieshort.wav
Now converting
->open dieshort.avi in vdub
->set filters for subs
->start frameserver
->open tmpenc
->for video: select vdr file (from frameserver)
->for audio selcect dieshort.wav
->set settings and press start
