ok heres the background first
im trying to backup a dvd thats just over 4.3gb so im trying to encode it. If I use the template wizard on constant bitrate I get a 4.2GB dvd, which is great. The problem is on constant quality the video has a lot of blockiness and I cant change the aspect ratio to 16:9 so i lose half the screen. If i do it automatic bitrate the quality is superb but the file size is 4.8gb. Questions are
1) how do i get the template to let me change the aspect ratio
2) can I improve the constant quality (I always run it on the best quality motion search settings)
3) how can i get the automatic bitrate file size down
thanks

There's a template called unlock.mcf, load it and you will be able to change all settings (including aspect ratio of 16:9).
You should do a two-pass VBR encoding @ highest motion estimation quality. Use a bitrate calculator to calculate your average bitrate to fit on a DVD (min bitrate ~0, max ~9000).
