I did my first vcd, got it encoded fine with TMPGEnc, burned it with Easy CD 5 Platinum, fine, major codec problems between what eacy cd & tmpgenc need & will work under, but at least I got it done.
However, nows where the fun begins.
I Got my first movie done by splitting the avi in half with TMPGEnc & then burned with Easy CD onto 2 cds.
However, I'm working on my 2nd movie now & got the first half done but when I go to do the 2nd half, everytime I get to the final screen that says bitrate setting, wizard screen 4/5, with the ruler that shows how much of a disk it will take up, it keeps adding the part that I indicated that I now wanted encoded to the entire movie & keeps showing bigger & bigger files everytime I try to set it up to go. It's now showing that the file is 254 minutes. If I start the file encoding, it starts on the 2nd half of the movie where I've indicated it, but it's showing like 7 hrs to encode & the huge file set to be encoded. I can't get the old stuff out of the program that's already been encoded. I've uninstalled & reinstalled several times, did a scan disk & defrag, but still no luck. HELP!!!!!

You did not indicate if you selected File-->New Project or not.
Hello. -
Yes, I did, several times, still no go.
I also forgot to also say that I can no longer install it using the installer. When it goes to install it, I get to the the start copying files screen & it tries to access a: drive & then says it can't access the program files or something. It flashes by too fast for me to see what it's saying any more & goes to the finish screen because it says setup was interupted before it could install. -
Have you tried to use the manual mode and bypass the wizard altogether?
Hello. -
Yes, it shows 0/365552 or something like that up on the side of the progress bar, & then when it starts to encode, it shows in excess of 11 hrs or something like that, when they were going about 1 hr per 1/2 movie when I split it to fit on 2 vcds.

It kinda sounds like a configuration file has been write protected. I don't really know!!!
Also, I don't use wizards with TMPGenc but if you cancel the wizard and just,
1.Browse for a Video source from the main screen,
2.then Browse for the Audio source if you need to.
3.Set the Output file name and folder where you want it to go.
4.Load the mpg template for the video type, "VideoCD(NTSC)..mfc"
5.in Setting under the Motion search precission select Highest quality(very slow) for the best quality. Click OK
6. Click Start to begin rendering your MPG1 VCD compliant file.
I'd recommend downloading the "Nero burning ROM" trial for making VCD's. It is better then Roxio. IMHO
Hope this helps. -
She said she tried the manual mode and it is projecting 11 hours to convert.
Hello. -
Nero vs Easy CD
I keep reading elsewhere in the posts that Nero does really terrible vcds. I actually have had very little problems with easy cd, compared the tmpgenc anyway, & tried nero several years ago & didn't like it as much as easy cd. The 2 vcd's that I've managed to do with easy cd, the one I converted & one from an already converted file, have turned out pretty good.
Is it possible that the properties have been changed on one of the program files, like to read only or something, & needs to be changed?
However, if that were the case, I think uninstalling & reinstalling would have done the trick? Any other suggestions, I'm ready to give it up over here. -
I'm not sure how or why, but I uninstalled it again & just forgot about it. I reinstalled it, for some reason, & it's back to normal.
I attempted to convert a movie & while the avi plays fine on the puter, I'm getting no sound after converting to mpg.
I brought up virtual dub to get info on it & it is 23.976 fps, decompressor is divx mpg-4 low motion, & the compressor is fraunhofer mpg layer 3 codec. I was told this is divx 3.11, which I do have installed.
So, any ideas on this one guys? -

Right click that and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4, or just below any Mpeg 2 filter
Click start, but stop it again after a min and test the output
All files should be checked for bad frames before TMPGEnc is used.

Thanks, I did find you post about this elsewhere & did as you advised & all is well over here, at least for now.

Ok, so now I have another problem with this thing.
I did the 1st half of a movie, burned it to vcd, no problems.
I did the 2nd half of the movie, & when I went to burn it to vcd, I got the following error. What's up with this?
The file c:............................
will not work in a VCD player. To make this fild video cd compliant, you will need to use a mpeg encoder that supports video cd encoding.
Should I just try to encode it again? Maybe something happened to it while encoding?
So, I decided to check it thru virtual dub as explained earlier, & I did get the vbr audio stream msg detected. So, I changed the audio/video to full processing, & it says to save uncompressed. But, I can't find where it says to save uncompressed. Is that done before or after processed? Is this why I'm getting the problem when trying to burn the 2nd part?
I went to video/compression, & selected uncompressed there, is that the correct place?
The scan show 177 bad frames found, all sequential, from 81369 to 81545, which would have been in the 2nd part of the movie. Is this fixable? Can I possible remove all those frames & still have something watchable?
So, I followed the directions to delete all these frames, selected the direct stream copy, & rec. the following msg.
VirtualDub has detected a potential problem.
You have selected a video compressor, but the video mode is set to direct stream copy. Video compression is not active in direct stream copy mode.
Do you wish to continue? Yes or No.
Now what? I hit yes for the heck of it, & now I've got a status window up & it did some sort of processing. I'm now encoding the 2nd part again with tmpgenc to see what happens.
Well, all seems to be ok after I went thru all the above steps. It created the vcd fine & it plays ok on the dvd player. -

That saves the wave as you have set it up
