  1. Can anyone help me and tell me how to convert my camera avi clips to mpg. At the moment Ive tried everything i can think of. The problem seems to be one of frame rate. As the camera avi clip is only 20fps Tmpgenc gives a message saying file type unsupported. I have managed to convert to 25fps avi with virtualdub and then load into tmpgenc but the audio is out of sync ,obviously due to the increased video framerate.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

That was a good try. Have you tried to select the "Sync to audio" option? And if that does not work try this guide.

You ripped the audio using the guide and it still did not work? What happened?

  6. don pedro: its a canon powershot a40 camera which has the facility to take 10 second avi clips with audio and is transfered to the pc by USB.

tommyknocker: yep, did everything according to the guide but the audio track still remains the same ie. the original clip was 5 seconds so converting to 25fps means the video will now be 4 seconds wheras the audio is still 5 seconds. virtualdub warns when you change the frame rate that the audio will be out of sync (bugger!)

  8. yeah its a popular camera, when i tried to buy my one I couldn't get one in the UK and there were back orders of 500 at some retailers as i work in the US I even tried there to no avail, i eventually got a display model as it was the only one left. Since then Ive managed to convince some of my work collegues to buy one as well. good stuff.

Anyway, ive now tried to sort out this avi-mpg file using vegas video but its very complicated to use and its time for bed, ive had enough. please let me know how you get on. It would be real nice to be able to include these clips on my photo slide show vcd's (very impressive!)

    Cheers

  9. I just did it... it worked with TMPGEnc. Maybe you need to use my trick for Pinnacle Studio 8 AVI.

    See here:

Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing

    My output video is 29.970 fps, 352*240 ,mpeg1 ,44100Hz 2chan
