  1. I am trying to make a backup of Mr Deeds. I am getting rid of the extras so just the main movie is on the dvd. The movie is small enough so this will work. I have a Toshiba SD-r5002 burner, I use DVD Decryptor to rip the movie, IFO edit to strip out all the extras, then I burn the movie with nero. Now here's my problem. When I play the movie in my dvd player at the beginning of Chapter 18 the audio slowly becomes out of sync with the video. Up until this chapter i experience no problems. Anytime after Chapter 18 if I pause the movie and play it again the audio is back on track but will slowly get out of sync again. The strange thing is I dont have any problems if I play it in my ps2 or in my dvdrom drive. It only happens in the dvd player, but I havent had any problems with any other movies. I have also tryed to create an image and burn with Record Now but have the same problems and I have used 4 different types of media including Verbatim so I dont think its the media. I used 2 different original discs to rip from but the same thing happens on both and the originals work fine in the dvd player. If anyone has any advice please help.

  2. you have two possibilities:

1/Original DVD was NTSC format, -> I suggest to do a PULLDOWN on it like it is explain on about 50 posts in this forum .

2/Original DVD is PAL. Can't help you there, Never had any trouble in ripping Pal DVDs.

ps: I suggest u use DVD2DVD-R it is a wonderfull prog and it is a time saver since you don't need to fool around with all the settings of all the progies needed except for the last part with ifoedit, I prefer doing it my self.

  3. well it looks like after it is striped that its under 4.7 gigs. if so i would use smart ripper go to stream processing and rip the video and audio slecting demus to extra track. then i would author the dvd using ifoedit then burn the new dvd files with nero. you will lose your subs and chapters but you won't have the sync problem anymore. just trying to and a another option for you.

It's doubtful the problem was a pulldown issue, there is no way the audio would remain in sync until chapter 18. It would be miraculous if the audio was in sync from the beginning of the movie, or at any point. Also, I would think if it were an NTSC film and a pulldown issue, video quality would be as much of a problem as the sync issue. If the DVD ROM is playing the movie fine, that it is almost certainly an issue with the standalone player. Especially if after the movie is paused it gets back in sync. Even though some standalone players claim to support the DVD+ DVD- formats, many of them will play them, but not as smoothly as DVD VIDEO.

  6. Thanks for the replies, I have come to the conclusion that it must be my player. Both Big Daddy and the Barbershop both have audio problems as well. But I still have other movies that work fine. If its not the player then it is really picky about the media. Just for reference I have a Hitachi DVP323U. If anyone has used this player give me you feedback.
