  1. An mpeg I have plays fine from the beginning but if I try to fastforward/seek to a different scene, it won't play, it just stays on frozen on the frame. I tried MPGcorrector, and it didn't work (actually it hasn't fixed any of my problems ever, but that's another story). I tried to load the mpeg in TMPGENC, but it said "illegal flaoting decimal point error"... how can I fix this mpeg???

Also, why doesn't mpgcorrector (in the tools section on this site) help me?

  2. This is a stability problem with your computer. Some software or hardware is unstable on you system. It might be a mix of incompatible software, or some hardware resource issue. Now if it happens only on one file, then the file is corrupt. Delete it, and start over.

Tmpeg does have some stabilty issues. I can also get Tmpeg to crash with the same error message if I do heavy multi-tasking. But, if Tmpeg is the only program running, it runs perfectly all the time.

  3. I get this error opening mpg files using tmpgenc. I fixed it
by selecting options, enviromental settings, vfapi plug in,
and selecting 'DirectShow MultiMedia Plug in' , right click on it an choose Higher Priority. Problem went away when I opened the file again

  4. I tried that using TMPGENC 12i and Win98se but it didn't work. Maybe I'll upgrade to 12j.
