  1. Here's my problem.

    I have a great looking AVI file, with great sound. These are the specs:

    ----------------------------------
    576x304
    23.976fps
    DivX 5.0.2 Codec

    Sampling Rate 48000Hz
    Channels = 2 (Stereo)
    Sample Precision 0-bit
    Compression=Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer 3 Codec

    --------------------------------

    Using TMPGEnc I converted to mpg then burnt it to SVCD using Nero.

    The file looks great but the sound (and this has happened before) has a metallic din to it that is annoying. The AVI file does not.

    What is the best way to compress sound so that it re-produces what is in the AVI file, without the extra "noise"?

    Thanks in advance...

    Most of the time "metallic" audio is caused by using the standard sample rate converter in tmpgenc. Since your audio is at 48kHz and SVCD standard is 44.1kHz, it has to downsample it. Either convert the audio externally with something like besweet or download ssrc and configure it as the external sample rate converter in tmpgenc.
