  1. Hi all, I just downloaded tmpgenc and I did so because I thought it converted avi to mpeg, but I'm having a hell of a time with it. I'm trying to burn a movie that I downloaded in avi. format, but when I try to convert it with this program, it says the file is unsupported. Can someone please tell me the easiest way to convert avi to mpeg, and possibly tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanx, victoria

  2. Can the movie play correctly on your Media Player ? TMPGEnc won't open
    any file that Media Player can't open, make SURE you have all the required
    VFP plugins for your TMPGEnc so it can access various file types.

    Maximum, you can use VirtualDub to open your file, and Frameserver into
    TMPGEnc.

  3. Hi again, yes windows media player does play the movie. How do I know if I'm missing plug ins? Sorry, but as far as changing movie formats go, I'm really new to this. Is there any other program that's easier to use to convert? thanx, victoria

  4. I Don't think there is anything simpler then TMPGEnc, defenetly not free

    Make sure you have the latest TMPGEnc 2.59, it should come with all the
    required plugins.

  5. I have version 2.5, I am trying to get version 2.59 right now, but the download window never comes up. I'm at the TMPGEnc website, when I click download, it just shows the hourglass but never comes. Is there somewhere else I can download it from? Most of the sites lead me right back to the same page. thanx,

  7. Try increasing DirectShow Multimedia File Reader's priority to 4 or 5 (TMPGEnc->Option->Environmental Setting->VFAPI plug-in).

    Regards.
