Can anyone who purchased the 4X brown box Cendyne DVD burner at Office Max for $169 this week tell me what software comes with it?. The older Blue box had an impressive list including Nero and WinDVD.
What is Cendyne shipping with this new '105 style' drive? Is the software any good? What burning S/W are they providing?

It's 2x DVD-R and 1x DVD-RW based on Pioneer DVR-A04, not DVR-A05. -

No. The unit I held in my hand at office max was a Cendyne DVD-R 4X machine based on the new Pioneer 105. It came in a gold/brown & white box as opposed to the -104 modele that has a blue and white box. It was clearly marked 4X but said nothing substantial on the box about software. The price after a $50 rebate was $169. -
What software is correct.
I have this DVD burner. the software (if you want to call it by that name) crashed my computer.
When loading InCD with Mydvd (included in Cendyne package) my computer would crash with a windows protection error (WindowsME).
Once I removed InCD I was able to load the MyDVD program. This program did not have help and tutorial files.
I had to download a 42M patch from Cendyne. The patch did not fix the problem.
The Nero Express program sent with burner will not allow you to burn onto the DVDRW sent with package (unless I did something incorrect).
In order to burn the DVD-RW (file more than 700M) I downloaded RecordNow program on internet.
This is a great program, I might consider purchasing it after my 30day free trial is up.
To sum it up,
Cendyne made a great burner but packaged it with crap.
PS: Be carfull about the rebate. Cendyne is saying that they will not honer our rebate.
I hope this e-mail informs everyone on Cendyne and what kind of company they are. -
It comes with the following software:
Nero Express, Nero Vision Express, Sonic MyDVD and WinDVD.
Sonic MyDVD sucks, as it always says "the medium is not large enough" which is due to the fact it uses uncompressed audio. I use Ulead DVD Factory which came with my Hauppauge capture card and it does not have the same size limit problem. -
Great dvd burner. It comes w/ nero, remember to update it to the latest version from their website. Prassi PrimoDvd doesn't work w/ mine for some reason, even when I updated the engine. It comes w/ a 1x dvd-rw. It shows up as a Pioneer A05 on my computer.

<jumling> Purchased one of these after purchasing a Pioneer. This one is going into a new machine (not completely built yet - decided on a dual AMD setup). Curious what you mean by Cendyne not honoring rebate? The OfficeMax rebate was pretty straight forward.
