  1. i have a bunch of 720x480 video files i want to put on DVD+R. only 2-3 will fit on a disk at that resolution, so i have used TMPGEnc to change them to DVD low-res (352x240). when i play them on my computer (S-video output to my television) they show up fine -- they play with black bars on the top and bottom, and while the video is somewhat small... it is clear.

the problem is when i burn the same video files to DVD and play them back, they show up fullscreen... which makes the files look very grainy. how can i encode or burn them so they show up with the black bars? i have tried many combinations of settings, but have had no luck... i will be willing to change software if that's the problem -- but i need advice.

i am using DVD Workshop to burn and have chosen both the 720x480 and 352x240 setting... there was no difference in either (i'm guessing that's just for encoding, which it doesn't need to do).

any help on how to get these files so they look like i want them to would be appreciated. thanks!!!!

  2. when using TMPGEnc change your bit-rate instead of the size

When you first open TMPGEnc set your bitrate to 3000kbps and you will be able to get 120 minute on a dvd.

To stop Ulead DVD WS from re-encodeing your footage set your bitrate higher than your mpeg files that you encoded in TMPGEnc
