  1. An odd problem...

I make a DVD-r disk, either a rip or one I author, and if I burn it to a Pioneer DVD-RW it plays fine in my Toshiba standalone, but it will not play in software DVD.

Power dvd gives an error of "Copy protection key exchange failure - Key not present." Other software DVD players just hang.

If I burn the same VIDEO_TS to a Verbatim DVD-RW it works fine in both software and hardware players.

It does not matter on what combination of author/burning software (DVDitPE/ Maestro - Prassi/Nero) I use I get the same results.

I have done a full erase on the Pioneer disk to no avail.

The Pioneer disk always comes back with the error but the Verbatim does not.

    Any thoughts?

Does your Pioneer disk have CPRM ??? This may be the cause (it is a content protection thingy)...

  3. CPRM...Aparrently it does, according to the jewel case liner...

Ok...will try to track down what CPRM is and if there is something I can do about turning off this "feature". I'm just glad my hardware players seem to ignore it

    thank-you

  6. when you author a dvd often the "key" is not added and the software players interpret it as a keyless disk and therefore refuse to play it.

anyone know how to add a key to a disk?
