  1. I just wanted to know what are you guys settings when enconding a DVD,

I always do 2 passes and Precission 9 for any DVD.
If I use only 1 pass will the movie end up that ugly??

  2. I normally use 2 pass VBR but if the movie is very dark with a lot of action then i use 3 pass to avoid blockiness.

In CCE 2.50 i set DCT Precision to Auto and it sorts it out itself but i don't think the later versions have the auto setting, if you use bitrate viewer on one of your original vobs it tells you what the precision setting is so just choose the same.

I don't use 1 pass because after going to all the hassle of ripping the DVD and re-encoding i want good results so don't mind the extra time, 1 pass comes out ok on some films but not recommended for dark or action films as they tend to come out poor quality in places
