  1. Hello,

does the capture software like Windows Movie Maker or Adobe Premiere or Ulead or.... makes any difference in quality of captured video while capturing by firewire from miniDV?

does the firewire interface or graphic card makes any difference?

does the codec in Windows XP makes differnce, which is the best for capturing from miniDV by firewire to avi?

what makes frame droppings? I think HD performance...

    Kind regards,
    Albatro

I think poor diet Sorry, couldn't resist that one

Seriously though, I have found Premiere, Movie Maker and Pinnacle capture using the MS DV codec. Ulead seems to capture in it's own DV type 1 codec which is a pain for having to render in Premiere. I have read that the MainConcept DV codec is one of the best to use.

Dropping frames (not frame droppings ) is often caused by HD performance but also can be low system spec, slow processor, low RAM, etc and also if there are background applications running. It is best to close most background tasks if you are running a low spec PC to ensure most of the system resources are available during capture.

  3. Hi there in brand new 2003!!!

    1. How can I use video saved in avi with Movie Maker or Adobe in VirtualDub? Special codec?

    2. Dropping frames causes lost of frames for ever or if I copy it to high end machine I will have superb video?
