    Hi there,
I got the episodes of an old TV show on VCD and I was wondering how I would go about ripping the VCD .dat files so I can reencode them (if need be) and burn them onto a DVD. ANY help is appreciated!

    thanks a bunch!

  2. You can convert the DAT file back to standard MPEG with either VCDGear or CDXA2MPEG (part of VCDImager -- use VCDImager Tools GUI as a GUI: http://www.michaeltam.com/vcdimager_tools_gui.html ).

This takes no longer than copying over from the disc as all it is doing is removing some headers.

To author these files onto a DVD, you don't need to reencode the video. You only need to resample/rencoding the audio to 48 kHz sampling rate. Your DVD authoring program may or may not be able to do this for you.

Try reading the following guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcddvdr.htm

    Regards.
