  1. Im havin this problem with my computer. When im in the middle of rippin a DVD with DVDx or convertin an avi file with TMPENC, quite frequently, the computer will just turn off out of nowhere. I was wonderin if anyone as had a problem like this before or knows how to fix it because it is quite irritatin to constantly have the computer shut down on me.

    Thanks

  3. It didnt always do this. It started recently. Is there a way for me to fiure out which one it could be?

It only shuts off when i am encodin or convertin. I can leave it on for hours and it wont shut off until i start doin video stuff.

  4. Try a really good cleaning...check all fans for proper operation...If everything checks out... Its either of two things, the processor is overheating because most encoding programs are very processor intensive. Or the additional power you are drawing from the power supply, is causing a voltage drop. Take your pick, new processor fan, or new power supply.

Unless of course the motherboard chipset is overheating....

  5. the previous poster pretty well nailed it on the head. Basically, encoding takes ALOT of processing power and something is probably heating up until it shuts down. Try to put a fan on the computer (to cool the entire computer down, nota computer fan) and see if that helps.
