    Hi md_mushroom

You did not really say if you are doing a DVD 9 to DVD5+/- R or what, but if you back up a lot of DVD 9 to DVD 5 this how I do it. Minority Report BU great with this method, as well as all others I have done.

I just backed up Minority report to a single DVD-R with the following sequence:

    1. rip with CloneAD XP
    2. run through DVD2AVI
    3. Run through TMPGenc
    4. Run through SpruceUP
    5. Burn with Gear Pro DVD.

I end up with a nice 4.5 Gig DVD
    My system:
    Abit Ic7G
    P4 3.0C @ 3.98 GHz
    2x512 MB DDR 500 ram
    WinXP Pro
    ATI Radeon X800pro
    5x120 GB Western Digital ata100
    TDK Velocd 48x16x44
    Sony 8x DVD burner

I used DVD2DVD-R (along with CCE & Maestro) to back up my copy of Minority Report in NTSC format. The DVD2DVD-R portion (including CCE) took 4 hours on my AMD 2.2GHz CPU. The CCE part took 3 hours. I am doing 1 pass VBR. Quality is EXCELLENT.

  8. I just read this thread, HUH?

OK, I did Minority report and there were MANY ways to attack this puppy. For all those using DVD2SVCD in DVD mode, WHY? If thats the way you like to do things, then fine. Stop reading here.....

    Option 1.

    Use DVD2SVCD. ReEncode.

    Option 2.

Stream rip this pig, use IFOedit. Keep the Original Video (100%) perfect. Use the Dolby AC3 Surround track. (Kill the 5.1)(Too Big) Create new IFO's. Transcode a VOB. Done.

    Option 3.

The way I did it, I followed Option2, but I wanted the original menu, so that I have a the original Chapter Menu. SO, hack off the stupid credits, about 2 min into the last chapt. The Credits are NOT on a Chapter entry point...So use vStrip to perform a cut. This leaves the final chapter link correct in the main menu.
Use IFOupdate to correct the .ifo tables.
Fix the menu IFO to Jump in the ROOT MENU (Use IFOedit.. First play PGC)
Then I transcoded the last VOB down using ReMPEG to make it fit, its now 4,705,000,000. Fits by 2 Mb, due to Lead-in, Lead-Out of burner.

So now, I have a copy that doesnt show any WARNINGS, starts at the main menu and all the Original menu Chapter screens work perfect.

This isnt exactly a Step-by-Step, but for the willing, its a step in a new direction.

  10. Those figures equate to the video at 23.97fps and the audio at equiv of 25 (hench the difference).

check your settings. never used that program before so can't really advise you on that though, but have done it myself once. Had sound at Pal 25fps and video at NTSC 29.97 cause I accidentally hit the wrong option!

    Cheers
