  1. what is the best way to join 2 Avi files without lossing sound or video?or re encoding
    i have tried so many programs but non of them "make me happy"...

    Use VirtualDub with the settings on direct stream copy. The "Append Video Segment" will join the clips

  4. Hmmm - maybe you downloaded a 2 segment divx avi from some p2p network?

    You can't be sure the encoding of both halves are the same.

    Since you have WinXP have you tried Windows Movie Maker Beta 2 (www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia)?

    Otherwise you might copy the specs of movie1 from the virtualdub info screen and compare to movie2. You'll have to decide if you want to have virtualdub tweek one or the other to match. If there is variable bitrate encoding that may be problematic.
