I am following a guide for TMPGenc to make a back up of star wars attack of the clones. After following all the steps I start to encode but after about 10 mins the encoding time goes up to 58 hours. I know Im only running win98se but this cant be right can it?

What is your processor speed, and what settings do you have set (high quality motion search, etc)? These can greatly effect your conversion times.

Sounds like it's stuck, that number is figured. Let it run a few minutes and see. Another sidenote, depending on whether you are FAT16 or FAT32 you may run into the dreaded 2 GB limit (Star Wars is a 3 CD SVCD at a minimum, so that's a 2.4 GB final file before cutting).
For a 2-pass VBR, High Precision, it takes me about 4 hours for the video only, for a 2 hour Movie. That's on W2K, Athlon 2400+, and 512 MB DDR.To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Your processor speed directly affects the length of encoding, it normaly takes on average 4 to 8 hours depending on the film, I would try reinstalling tmpgeng again not unless your running a 486
I dunno...it might work
