  1. Hi all, thanks for helping out. I've search the whole forum and cannot find anything on this subject.

I need to backup (rip) VCD into my HD. These are Karaoke VCD so I want to store each chapter as individual mpg file. There's only one 600mb+ .dat inside the VCD, so I need to cut the .dat and split it according to the chapter (or menu, or entry point). Is there an tool that can do it automaticlly?

I am able to obtain the entry point in .xml by using VCDeasy, but I dont know how this info can help me. I am currently using VCDCutter to cut it manually and is very time consuming. I got tons of these VCD that needs to be cut too

Any help or suggestion will be great.

  2. I am assuming that you already have the entrypoint information in the XML file.

Open up the XML file in a text editor and you will find the entrypoint times.

They will be organised as such:
    <entry>????.???</entry>

The numbers refer to the time in seconds that the entrypoint is in.

If you want to cut the MPEG into smaller parts, you can use these seconds to work out were to do the cut. You can cut the MPEG with a number of tools including TMPGEnc.

  3. THanks for reply but this is exactly what i am doing now, taking the entry pt info from xml and manually cuttint each chapter out from the VCD using VCDcutter. It is too time cunsuming.

SO IS THERE ANY AUTOMATION TOOLS that can cut and split the VCD into indivdual mpg file according to the chapter in the menu (entry Point)

    PLZ HELP

  5. Well, is there any tool that can accept the entry point? I know tmpeg can, but it takes pretty long to cut. VCDcutter on the other hand are much faster, but it doesnt have place where I can enter entry point, I have to move the bar manually to select where is clip in and clip out.
