  1. Hi,
My question is, instead of using virtualdub, TMPGEnc, etc. to convert .AVI files to SVCD (mpeg2) or VCD (mpeg1), will Nero just do the conversion directly (ie. select SVCD in Nero and drag and drop the .avi file, then nero will convert it directly?)
    Thanks

Nero's encoding sucks. Stick with TMPGEnc.

  3. I'd go along with legionpc, Nero sucks for encoding.

Encoded a film with Nero and the result was totally
unwatchable. Picture was all green and blocky.
Did a 2-pass vbr with TMPGenc and the result
    was superb.

  4. Ok, so use TMpgEnc to convert it to a MPEG2, but then it is ok to use Nero Express to burn that MPEG2 as a VCD?

mpeg-2 is for SVCD, mpeg-1 is for VCD.

I would recommend VCDEasy, it's the best for authoring both VCDs and SVCDs and it's free.
