  1. I have a vcd that i want to burn. it was created with a pc so when i get the .rar files unpacked i end up with a .bin file. I cannot get toast to burn it as a disk image that will play in my apex, i keep getting a bad disk error.

I looked into some further options and found out that missingmediaburner will burn .bin files but anytime i try to set it up to do so i get a no driver error, i have the pioneer superdrive but it is not in the list of drivers that MMB has availabe. I didn't think this was a big deal so i just told it to burn.

Also whenever i put in a disk when i have MMB running my itunes starts up, when i quit it, it ejects the disk.

I used binchunker to create iso files since the bin file wouldn't work, and tried to use toast to burn those files. i get a message in toast that says the length of the file is not a multiple of the sector size. I burned a disk anyway when it did this and it seemed to check out fine. when i put the disk into my apex it recognised it as a vcd but would not play the disk.

I am finding out that doing anything with dvd ripping and burning .bin or iso files is a real pain in the ass on a mac.

    Can anyone help me?

VCD, SVCD and DVD creation on the Mac is not a pain in the A**. Here is the story. Toast isn't going to burn a VCD or a SVCD from a bin/cue file.

However, there is 1 FREE tool that does it all.

Here is what you need to do:

    1) Download vcdtoolsX and unpack the .mpg from your .bin file
    2) Use vcdtoolsX to create an .XML file off of your .mpg
    3) Use vcdtoolsX to create the .IMG files using the .mpg and .xml files
    4) Put Toast on MultiTrack XA mode and drop the 2 image files on toast
    5) Burn
    6) Watch

    vcdtoolsX found here:

  3. If you don't want iTunes to start up when you insert a CD then open System Preferences and choose CDs and DVDs under Hardware. Choose Ignore when you insert a blank CD.

  4. MMB 0.4 has just been uploaded.
    homepage.mac.com/rnc

New feature: Generate Cue/Bin for a Data Folder.
This does not build a file system for vcd, svcd, or dvd.
So use other tools for that. Also new Tab View Layout.

BTW, for the pioneer superdrive, use the generic-mmc driver.

  7. If vcdtoolsX will not extract the mpeg, then change the extension to .img, then drag into DiskCopy.

  10. I haven't used binchunker for awhile. As I recall, it gave me alot of trouble. I use VPC and FireBurner. It works fine.
When I process a bin/cue file in Fireburner, and then get a message from Toast saying that a track is the wrong sector size, it usually means that something hiccupped while writing the file. Try re-processing the bin/cue and you may find that the second run will not give you the error message.

MMB didn't support the burner in my new Powerbook when I bought it, last July, but the latest version does, using the DVD/RW - generic-mmc settings.
The Powerbook doesn't have a DVD burner but that's the setting that works for this machine.
    Good luck.

You may have a bad .bin file. There is a program floating around out there called "FixSVCD" or "SVCDFix" not sure. I think that it is supposed to do something with a .bin to make it ready for Toast to burn.

  15. I'm not sure if it's me or my computer who has been smoking crack or if it's everyone in this thread.

Drop your .bin file onto toast as a VCD! Click on OTHER hold down your mouse, select VCD, and drop your friggin .bin onto it.

    It works every single time.

again, select VCD, drag your .bin onto it and tell it to BURN. And then trash the .cue, as it isnt necessary.

Here's a strange tip: If you cannot get toast to accept an .mpg file for whatever reason, pack the files in question as a .bin image. Toast will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS accept it as a .bin -- no matter if it is SVCD, VCD, CVD, whatever.

Squeed -- i thought you would have known better...

  16. MMB 0.4 (v0.2) is working fine when I select DVD-R/RW and generic-mmc for the driver, no problems what so ever. If you want to get the raw mpeg w/out a lot of fuss get VCDGear. Its the console version but its very easy to use, get it from http://www.vcdgear.com. That will help ALOT of people with problems.

  17. If anyone wants the app svcdfixer just email me.

Its good for changing svcd .bin files

    MPEG2>MPEGAV
    .MPG>.DAT

only take a second to change.

SVCD bin file can now be selected in toast VCD menu.

i never use .cue files, unless the svcd needs overburned, i.e over 806mb.
    You better believe it :)
