  1. okay i have been reading through the last 50-100 posts and have not seen a clear example or best way to get a dvd to 1 dvd-r. From what is sounds like there is no program that will automatically do that because dvdxcopy wants to put the movie on 2 dvd-r's. Is that correct? So then I am stuck with reencoding the movie once it is ripped? Is that correct? Is reencoding the movie the ONLY way to get a dvd to 1 dvd-r? Is it best to rip the movie the old conventional way using smartripper, dvd2avi and then tmpge? Is there a faster or better solution with less steps?

I want to be able to take a movie and put it on 1 dvd-r in case anyone was wondering.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello,

I have found that using a guide called dvd for dummies (there is a link to it under links on the left side of the screen) works well for me. it only gives you the movie but I never watch the extra stuff anyway. give it a try, ill think youll agree

  4. If you need just movie and not rest of the DVD (menus, extras) you can use guide in www.doom9.org . It worked for me. (Not all movie can fit even after removing extra sound and subtitles)

  7. okay thanks for the suggestions fellas

this is where i am getting stuck at

    i ran the dvd2avi software

once that is done I open tmpge 2.53, I also have 2.58

anyway i am unable to open the video file, but the audio file loads fine

i get a message saying file cant be open or is unsupported. I can only see the .d2v file if i choose show all files on the bottom

any idea why i am getting this?

If your using the guide i suggested you dont even load the audio because you dont mess with it. if you havent tried it you really should its easy and it works well. i did it to do spiderman and it turned out perfect. it fit on one dvd+r (its a two hour movie) and it has the 5.1 sound. it really is easy, but read it first and get familiar with it.
