.mpg viewing problem

hey ppl, I'm new here & a definite noobie I d/l a rather large(750MB) .MPG video and when I run it, it plays but freezes every 2 seconds It will play, two seconds later freeze, play again for 2 seconds, freeze again I use WMP ver.9 to play it. Is the video shot or is there a way to fix this? I've even installed the latest codecs for my video card. Also, would converting to .wmv format help? Any help is appreciated

if this is a divx film then ur probably be better off using the divx playa to view it.
