  1. I've been using TMPEnc to encode for a while, and have encountered a very peculiar problem. I have a certain file I am trying to encode from AVI to MPG. I checked the file and all checked out with the file structure, sound and video were okay. I used TMPGEnc as always, but discovered when it began to encode that it was only doing the sound (there was no image in the frame preview and the time was cut in half). So I redownloaded the same file, but of a different quality (different size, structure, and all) - tested it and it checked out okay - did the same thing and again tried to encode, but could only encode what ended up being a 42 minute sound file. The settings on TMPGEnc all check out, and I tried another file immediately after and it worked. Any one have any ideas what could be up with this particular file (even in different formats, qualities, etc.)? Is there another way I should try encoding an AVI to MPG?

Any advice or anyone else ever get this?

    Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by all your TMPGEnc settings were okay?
If you get an error message when opening the video or audio like file unsupported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window
or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codecs (both DivX 3.11, 4 and 5) and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack. If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.
