last year i invested a few pound buying a tv out card and software,at the time i was told i was better with a digital camcorder, (my old one was analogue) anyway i put up with the analogue until i could afford a digital one, i also bought the firewire but i dont see how this makes it any better than my old analogue set up, i still have to encode it to burn it to disc, so i feel as though i've spent alot of money when my analogue camera seems to do the same when it comes to editing my films,I have i must add just acquired the dv cam and maybe havent looked into it enough perhaps,so what im really asking is what are my benefits now i have a dv camera, im using moviestar and/or mgi videowave, for editing sorry if im being ignorant cheers steff.....[/b]

One word, quality. Digital camcorders have much better picture and sound quality than soho analogue camcorders. With analogue you must "capture" your films if you want to edit on your PC, this can degrade the quality. With digital you do not need to capture, you "copy" the source through the firewire interface onto your PC, with no loss of quality.
