Croc Hunter Backup

I just backed up croc hunter but get the wierd box screen thing that the dvd has with bars down the left an right side of the screen when on the steve irwin bits. Has anybody else ripped this and know how tho get rid of it to make it a normal wide screen movie???
It seems to only happen on the steve irwin bits at others times its normal wide screen.

These bars you speak of on the left and right hand sides are normal since you are making an SVCD. SVCDs are 480 x 480, so it will be like that, a perfect square. THAT IS MY ANSWER TO MY FIRST INTERPRETATION OF YOUR QUESTION.

MY SECOND ANSWER:
Sometimes, DVDs have this thing where several sections are in widescreen and others are not. I have the Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring extended dvd and in the appendices (behind the scenes) the interviews and stuff are in full screen and the clips from the movie and other clips are in widescreen. So sometimes its how the dvd was made.

I noticed the same thing on the original DVD so i guess its part of the film itself
