  1. I would like to know if someone could help me in my DVD2DVDR backup of Star wars Episode 1 and 2 (make the DVD9 to fit in a DVD5). After all the work that I have done in backing up the both movies, when I play the both star wars movies, the image always seems to flash and unfocused, something like a motion blur for left and right, it is not too much but it ruins the final job.

To rip the movie I have done all the following:

    FIRST STEP:
I've run the DVDDecrypter 3.1.4.0 with the default settings and activated the IFO MODE and the Stream Processing.
I've removed all the unwanted sound files and subtitles, and just leaved the 16x9 movie file, the 6 channel audio file and one subtitle. I've activated the demux for the movie and audio files, to convert the movie file to an .m2v and the audio file to an .AC3.

    SECOND STEP:
I've used a bitrate calculator named FUNKNCALCDVD to calculate the % of bit rate to be used in REMPEG. In Star Wars Episode 2, the % of bitrate was 84%.
I've run the REMPEG 1.5.2 and opened the .m2v movie file, I’ve just changed the bit rate value to match the 84%, activated the resolution of 720x and changed the frame mode to match the source, at final, the encode.

    THIRD STEP:
After 8 hours for encoding the new .m2v file, I started with DVDMAESTRO, I’ve imported the media files, the new compressed .m2v movie file and the .AC3 sound file. I’ve putted the chapters and imported the subtitle file. I've configured the movie for 16x9 and configured the first play option of DVDMAESTRO to run the chapter 00:00:00:00 (I never use menus in my DVD backups). At last I just check that the movie is in PAL (like all the originals) and I just compile the final project.

At last, I checked the movie with power DVD 4.0, but both STAR WARS movies have the same problem, they unfocused the image a little bit continuously for left and right. I've done always the same process for my backups, and I didn’t have any problem like this.

Does STAR WARS EPISODE 1 and 2 have some new type of protection or there is something different to be configured in DVDDECRYPTER or REMPEG that would fit better the needs for this two titles?

Does anyone did have this problem before or could help me?

  3. i have just finished phantom menace (pal). looks great.

    i used dvd2dvdr 1.3.2 to get the m2v and ac3
    subrip for subs
    chapterXtracter for the chapters.
put it all back together with maestro.

p.s. you need cce 2.5 to run with dvd2dvdr program.

  4. Maybe it is the REMPEG that screws up everything, and maybe the CCE does the job without any problem.

    Someone can confirm this?

but when i was looking to sort it out cause i was having the same probs
a couple of posts were talking about it having something to do with vob ids. because im not an expert on ifoedit i looked at a different way and it worked.

  6. I don't think that this problem is related with the vobs or ifoedit, but any kind of bug in rempeg or some settings that i could change.

I gonna see how CCE and DVD2AVI works, maybe they do it better.

The problem is ReMPEG, DON"T USE IT! I tried the same thing, and got horrible results, not just with those movies, but with others as well. Use CCE if you have it, the results are well worth it!

I have always had bad luck with Rempeg I don't know why. I just did Episode 1 looks great. I use SmartRipper, DVD2AVI,TMPGEnc and Author with Dazzle DVD Complete always with great results. Here is the guide.

    Good Luck

  9. Thanks for the advice, I think it is time to change, I will leave REMPEG and learn how the CCE and DVD2AVI works, so I could get back to work. I known one guy too that has the two Star WARS without any problem, but he has used the DVD2AVI/CCE.

It is a shame that this type of bugs with REMPEG and the TERRIBLE BURNING PROGRAM NAMED NERO, it means a lot of costs.

So i will stop using NERO and REMPEG and just use RECORDNOW and DVD2AVI with CCE.

Thanks for all of you guys.
