  1. Hey ppl,

one problem after another wiv me (

Just formatted me computer and installed windows XP Pro (NTFS) and was installing all the software. I had a copy of nero with an old cd writer i got and installed it and updated with the 5.5.1.7. When i try loading up nero it says that the dvd writer (which is a Pioneer DVR-04) cannot be selected and says to contact nero sales department.

I also went to adaptec.com and got all the aspi drivers just incase it had something to do with it

I like nero and would prefer not to change any burning software so any ideas on the problem resolution?

    Thanx ppl,
    Bob

I had exactly the same problem. XP, NTFS Nero and the A04.

I installed 5.5.9.14 and it worked.

    Dont know why?

    Good luck

  3. I have had a similar problem. You say the Nero came with an old CD writer. I assume this is not the Pioneer you have now.

I have had two previous writers. The current one I have is a Yamaha 20x burner. This drive came with Yamaha Nero bundled with it. Everything was fine as long as this was the only burner on the system. A month or so ago I bought and installed a Memorex DVD+ burner which also came bundled with Nero. The original Yamaha/Nero wouldn't allow the memorex burner as an option to use. So I installed the Memorex/Nero that came with the new burner. All is well now with the Memorex, Nero will use it as a burner but the new software won't use the Yamaha as a burner. At this point according to Nero it is simply an expensive CD-ROM drive. As you stated it says to contact Ahead sales.

After going to their site it seems the Nero versions, although upgradable to the latest versions, bundled with devices are locked to the brand they are sent with. The simple solution, which I have yet to do for getting mad about it reasons, is to send Ahead 20$ U.S. to unlock the program for other brands of drives. I haven't found any further solutions and do like Nero for burning. So after I get over it I'll probably send them the money after I deem that I have punished myself long enough.

This really bugs me though because both were sent with items that were purchased retail and I didn't have a clue this was going to be a problem.

I just found a code on the internet which woz (1505-0452-3818-6303-1257-2812) and then it seemed to work fine. Strange how it asked me to enter one even tho i had a licensed copy ahhhh well any1 else has a problem with it, then just do the above

    please don't post warz.

    Look at the version numbers

    5.5.9.17 is a big jump from 5.5.1.7

Each time a new Nero is released, they include support for more burners.
