Would someone please help me.
I have approx 12 x 8mm videos produced via my Cannon Camcorder (not dv - its 4 years old). I want to transfer them onto to cd, for viewing on my pc and dvd (plays vcds & svcds).
I have a wintv go pci card which I have used the video in & audio in to connect my camcorder to.
However, I am having real problems capturing good quality footage. The camcorder tapes vary between 1 hour and 1hr and 45 mins long.
I have tried Windows Movie Maker, Power VCr2 and the Hauppauge Wintv 2000 software. The quality is poor and I really need full screen. The idea is to perhaps edit the footage on each tape and to condense it to vcd or svcd. I know the editing will take ages.
Perhaps I will need to go divx - I dont know.
Please help me as I need to get this task completed asap.
Many thanks

You don't say what kind of quality problems you're having, but I'll offer a couple of suggestions.
If you haven't already, go to http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/ and install their drivers on top of Hauppage's drivers. You won't be able to use the WinTV software anymore, but you'll have much better capture options (including high resolutions).
Try capturing in VirtualDub, it may offer more options than those other programs. Your best quality will probably be from capturing in HuffyUV, but it'll use a lot of disk space. If disk space is an issue MJPEG might be a better option, a lot of people use it with good results.
