I have converted a few .avi (DivX) files into mpeg-1 and they have all worked fine. I downloaded a new movie and am now trying to burn it in mpeg-2 (svcd). The problem occurs when I start using the wizard in TMPenc as usual and as soon as I choose my .avi file as my video source it starts some process called "JUDGING FIELD ORDER". This would be fine but it freezes the whole program at 9% every time? If anyone could please help me I would be very greatful. Thanks.

Check to see if you have any bad frames in the source. That may be the reason why TMPGEnc stops at 9% of your encoding process.

Thank you very much for helping me! I just decided to do the movie manually and it seems to have worked. Thank you though.

Field order is irrelevant in any case when encoding from DivX, as DivX does not have any fields.
