NERO problem

i am now using nero v.5.5.9.0 ....and when i try and burn the vcd...it says it is burning the vcd...but nothing happens....my burner doesnt even start burning....i need to know how to get Nero to identify my burner and use it to burn.....and ive tried changing the settings to detect the burner...and it says that my burner drive is empty...when in fact there is a cd in there....i amm almost finally finished my first vcd....can anybody pleeeeeease help me....thank you
