  1. I am trying to rip a DVD to a VHS tape using the TV-Out on my video card. On a DVD with only English audio (I used Toy Story 2), I can use SmartRipper to get all the VOB's, then I merge them together and play it with Windows Media Player (using the filters at digital-digest/dvd). However, Toy Story 1 has French and Spanish audio also and I end up with multiple video VOB's and one audio VOB. Is there any way to merge the audio/video VOB files together? Or, is there a simply easier way to get the DVD to play to the VCR? (I'm pretty sure you have to rip to HDD first b/c of Macrovision...right?)

  2. I think your right, if you dont SmartRipper it the Macrovision will get in the way of copying.

Im thinking theres an option in Smart that you can select the audio track you want, isnt there? Id have to look, you done made me curious! HA HA!

  3. a simple way to do this is the rip all the files from the dvd and place them in a directory on your harddrive called "video_ts". remove the dvd disc from your dvd-rom. use ravisent cinemaster to play the movie from your harddrive. its just like playing the regular dvd, except its on your harddrive & macrovison free. with that you can select audio languages and all that other good business.

i belive you can also do this through "cinematograph" aswell..

  4. You can do this with any software DVD player (WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc) and a TV-Out card.... I like to use The Nvidia GeForce 2 MX as the driver has a nice video mirror feature. It allows you to play a video and have only the video on the S-Vid or Composite out (not the player frame). SPinning the vobs to your HD with Smart Ripper is a good idea to remove macrovision etc. you can even minimize your player and have your desktop free to do other things !!
P.S. dont forget to connect your audio !

  5. Hmm...I have a GeForce2 MX card too, but don't see a "video mirror" option...to get the card to output to the TV I have to do to Display Properties --> Settings --> Advanced... --> Device Selection. But thanks a ton so far...I didn't realize it was that easy, finding the Playlist in WinDVD!

    P. S. jeex your sig icon cracked me up!

  6. I am using the latest reference driver posted on Nvidia's site (1241). The video mirror controlls are here...
    Display > Settings > Advanced > GeForce2 MX/MX 400 > Additional Properties > Overlay Controls

    I hope this helps
