    I heard that there are recorders that rip VHS to VCD like Terapin VCD Recorder or USB Instant DVD. I wonder if anyone in here have ever used these and how is the quality of the picture.

    Actually, I use the USB Instant DVD. The quality is quite acceptable. I think it is because I capture in 720 x 480 quality (MPEG-1/2). You will need a lot of memory and a powerful computer to do MPEG 2 video out, though.
