Well, I am a super newbie on svcd stuff. I usually collects only dvd rip divx, but for some foreign movies, a frined of mine was asking me if I can rip it onto svcd, so that he can watch on his stand-alone dvd player. So here I am.
I read through the converting guide here and followed through the procedure using latest DVD2SVCD, Virtualdub, TMPGENC, and VCDeasy. I was trying to convert Divx (SBC?) with AC3 5.1CH to SVCD.
Regarding converting divx with ac3 to svcd, do I really need to go through using Virtualdub (wav output, rename to ac3, then using headach or else to convert)? It seemed to be converting fine with the latest version of DVD2SVCD bundle.
After long process, I have gotten to bin/cue file. Using CDSpace (similar to Daemon), I played on WinDVD, and it plays fine. So does that mean, can I skip the procedure of extracting ac3 auido by using virtualdub, and so on?
There is also one other thing. Since I don't have a dvd player (didn't get to test it on stand-alone player), I used the virtual rom (CDSpace) to play the movie with WinDVD Player. First, it wouldn't play. Just a black blank screen. Why is that? I got it to play by searching a file mpg in mpeg2 folder. Is that normal?

As good an encoder as TMPGE,it still has some audio / video sync problems with certain audio codecs so, to avoid a wasted overnight encode I always extract the audio from the DIVX and convert it to uncompressed WAV using the resulting WAV as the audio source in TMPGE.
The result is perfect sync...99% of the time!"Today is only yesterdays tomorrow"
