  1. can anyone tell me if choosing a low min bitrate (e.g 300) will give a different quality as opposed to lets say a 2000 min bitrate.

    300 min and 2000 max is more what you meant? What the 300 min is good for is fades where the screen is black, or titles that don't move, there is no change, so the progressive changes are zilch. It's also good on shots with very little motion.

    Now if you set your minimum to 2000, you can waste a lot of space over encoding mostly static scenes. It can also make for some very large files, depending on your max.

  5. thanks for the info.. but what min bitrate do most of you guys use, I'm converting some high quality divx to svcd with cce 2.66 and I dont want to see crummy looking backgrounds by not choosing a high enough min bitrate.
