    I followed the HOWTO howto convert a divx to mpeg on svcd or vcd
    but, virtualdub sys it cant decode the divx bevouse this divx format is not supported (it cant load the "whozname thingy").
    i tried it with two different obtained divx files, same result.
    i used virtualdub 1.4, and have not used this or any other version before so i do not know how it should work!
    can someone help me out here?

    You have to download the DivX codecs first before you can open your files in VirtualDub.

    Go to the Tools section and look under codecs. Then download the DivX 3.11, 4, and 5 codecs. You could also download the Nimo Codecs Package as it comes with all the codecs you need.
