  1. Hey guys,

I am a lurker. I've been using this board/webpage for over a year now, but I am finally stuck.

How do I convert SVCD (.mpg) or MPEG4 to DivX? I am primarily interested in keeping the quality but in a smaller file. I would also like to chop up the files into CDs

I have tried using Vidomi but no luck. Apparently it is a converter for MPEG2 not MPEG4

    Thanks in advance

  2. SVCD is mpeg2, and converting it will only make it look worse, even keeping the same file size. I'd keep the SVCD's as is and avoid making it worse.

MPEG4? There is hardly any tools to do work on .MP4's... It's getting there, but until then, I just avoid it. Even playback filters are having issues, and as far as creating .MP4, it's a pain... You need to encode divx, then encode AAC audio, then mux it, and pray that it plays fine...

Anyways, I see no real benefits of converting .MP4 to "DivX" .avi's except maybe better compatibility(?).
