I have a United DVD 3151 player and elsewhere on this site I'm told that there are three kinds of United DVD 3151 with the same name(!).
One type can definetally play VCD, but the other two are indistinguisable from each other appearance wise. Those are both marked (among other things) with Kodak Picture CD on the front, but one type can play VCD and the other can't. Mine is one of these two but I am trying to find out which.
When I try to play a VCD disk I get "invalid entry" on my tv screen. My question is: Is this final? Is there or could there be a setting I must turn on in order to play VCD or does this simply mean that my player can't play VCD (I am wondering if these two indistinguisable players could infact be the same type, with some owners not realising it's possibilities).
If infact my player is unable to play VCD, could it be modified?
I appreciate all the help you can give me.

Don't worry. It's only the worst thing that could have possibly happened!
